DEMAR's Safety Focus
Primary Consideration. The safety and health of employees is our first consideration in conducting our business. Personal safety and health of each employee takes priority over operating productivity. No employee is required to work at a task he or she knows is not safe or healthful.
Comprehensive Program Maintained. DEMAR maintains an occupational safety and health program in keeping with the highest industry standards. This program is documented in the Safety and Health Manual . Every employee receives a copy of the safety program and is required to know the safety rules, and to conduct himself/herself accordingly. Every employee signs a Code of Safe Practices to affirm that commitment.
Program Basics. Our safety and health program includes:
- Providing mechanical and physical safeguards.
- Conducting inspections to eliminate unsafe working conditions, to control health hazards,
- and to comply fully with OSHA standards.
- Training all employees in good safety and health practices.
- Providing PPE along with instruction for proper use and care.
- Communicating safety and health rules and requiring employees to follow these rules as a condition of employment.
- Investigating every accident to determine its cause and to correct work practices as needed to prevent its recurrence.
Responsibility of Every Employee. DEMAR has an EMR of 0.85 and zero lost time accidents in excess of 10 years. Safety and health is the responsibility of every employee at all levels: management, supervisors, professionals, crafts and laborers. Employees are required to work in compliance with the safety rules, to report any accidents and near misses, and to report any unsafe conditions or unsafe practices. On the job, our goal is zero accidents -- zero injuries.
